    Don’t forget to add “No”!
Also, does “O” count as a word? (as in breakfast O’s)
she also says “book” and “rock, rock” (when she rocks the rocking chair) and “tick, tock”
    And “nose”
    and “eye”

    Lillian also says:
“knock, knock” (while knocking on a door). Get ready to hear some “knock-knock” jokes!
    “bottle”
    “shoes”
    “wrist”
    “bumps”
I think she said “potty” and “pee pee” a couple of times yesterday, too.

She also says “more” now while she’s doing the sign language for more.

Forgot to mention, for awhile she’s been saying “egg.” It sounds like “eh.” It’s really cute.

This morning she said “mouth” and pointed to the mouth of a little cat figurine she was holding. I asked her, “where’s mommy’s mouth?” and she pointed to my mouth. “Where’s Lillian’s mouth?” and she pointed to her mouth. It sounds like “mow.”
She also said “ear.” (sounds like “ee”).

There have been a lot of new words lately, but it’s hard to think of them. She’s started just repeating random things we say.

One thing she’s said lately is “knee.”
She also says “boom” when she falls.
She was leaning over the other day pointing at her knees saying “knee,” when she over-balanced and toppled over onto her face. It was cute (but not to her, bumped baby!).

    Lillian says:
All done (sounds like “aww dee”)
Poop (“boop”) (way to go, Mom…apparently Noah’s been referring to it as #2)
    Potty

Also, for posterity–Lillian cut her first tooth this morning. It was a rough weekend getting there.

Lillian says so many words now it’s hard to keep track. Lots of times now you can ask her to say things and she’ll repeat them back to you (or at least try).

    Some things she’s said lately:
    -mitten (“mi-nen”)
-off (“oss”) (took me awhile to figure that one out!)
    -switch sides
    -christmas tree (“di da dee”)
    -kitty
    -down, kitty!
    -bye, baby!
    -santa
    -Nana
    -Hannah
    -Andrew (“ah-new”)
    -noise
    -night-night (“nye-nye”)
    -boy
-child (“tsai”) (She has a precious moments figurine from auntie julie and uncle jeff that depicts a little child and I’m not totally sure of it’s gender so when we’re turning off the lights I point to it and say “night-night, child” so lately she’s been saying “child” with regard to this object.)

Also, she sounds so cute saying “water”—(“Wadee”)

Lillian’s vocabulary has totally exploded. Maybe that’s why she’s had so many wakeful nights lately! (or maybe it’s the eczema, or the teething…).
She now will repeat pretty much anything for you when you say “Can you say____?”
    Among her recent words:

    Bill (“biw”–sooo cute)
    Lauri (“ori”)
    lay down
    get down
    Augie
    Pooh

She also says “hi” to people on the phone regularly now (to their delight), and she is very good at following instructions–she understands so much!

We’re waiting for her 3rd & 4th teeth to pop out any day now. I was sure they’d come by Christmas, but not yet!

Still no more teeth (as of yesterday anyway, didn’t get a real good look this morning).

According to Noah, Lillian can turn a doorknob to open a door–if only she could reach the doorknob.

It’s so funny how there are things that she sees us do all the time, which happen to be for her safety or to avoid messes, that she also now insists on being done. For example, if one of the baby gates is open, she’ll walk over and instead of falling down the stairs, she’ll close the gate because she knows it’s supposed to be closed.
Also, if the long telephone cord in our kitchen is hanging down, she’ll grab on to it and start squawking to let us know it needs to be looped back up. She also picks up the dish of cat food if we leave it out, and brings it to me to put it on the counter, so that she won’t get into it.

We were in England last week at Auntie Susan and Uncle Ivan’s house. They live right near some train tracks and the trains are always blowing their horns and rushing by. When she heard that horn, she would usually drop what she was doing and make a beeline for whatever adult was closest.
Lillian told me “I don’t like the train.”

In the mornings, we were usually among the first to rise. She told me, “I don’t wake up Matilda.” “I don’t wake up David.” “I don’t wake up Kim.”

I think her use of “don’t” is pretty clever!

Lillian also sings lots of songs. It is so cute.

A few things Lillian has been saying lately that sound very cute:

    “That’s better.”
    and
“That’s funny.” the way she says them is so cute, the way her voice inflections are.

She’s also started sticking “tonight” in her sentences. “Nana Lou came over and had supper…tonight.” whether or not it actually happened or will happen “tonight” (versus, say, this morning), she likes tossing “tonight” in there to add some credibility.

    she also sings:
    the wheels on the bus,
    twinkle twinkle,
abc song (basically, starts “A-B-C-D” and then repeats over and over the “H-I-J” and “L-M-N-O-P” parts).
    baby baluga song,
    pat-a-cake

Some funny things that Lillian says or has said, at around age 2 (plus/minus a month):

-”You have lots of armpits!” said Lillian, in a pleased, complimentary tone to her mother. This was after I came in to rock her after she woke up one time. I think she meant that my armpits were really accessible, as I was wearing a t-shirt for the first time in awhile (it’s been getting cold out). My armpits are her favorite fiddling lovey when nursing or whenever. So, she was really excited by the instant double easy access.

-We were down in Worthington at G&G’s house, and she wanted to go look at a big trampoline in the neighbor’s yard. I said we could go look at it and see what it felt like. We put our hands on it, and I said “this is for big kids.” To which Lillian replied, “Actually, it’s for Lillian,” and barrel-rolled out of my arms and onto the trampoline. :)

-There is a song we sing that has a line “what’ll I do with this baby-O…wrap him up in calico.” Lillian loves to sing it loudly while wrapping her stuffed animals, and says calico like “taty-0.” It’s cute. I had to record it for posterity, because I think she is now starting to pronounce calico the way it’s spelled! I will miss her “taty-O!”

Lillian was brushing her teeth this morning with a tiny speck of minty toothpaste. She said, “It tastes like…Minnesota!”

This morning Lillian was playing with a baby doll, and said its name was “Brand New Baby.” A little later, she couldn’t think of how to say that phrase. It kept coming out “Brew…bruh…” but she knew that wasn’t how it started. She said “I can’t say that word anymore. The word is stuck, it’s stuck in my head! I can’t get it out!” (tapping her head). Then I offered “Brand New Baby?” and she said with delight “You got it out! Thanks, Mom.”

Lillian learned how to say the sounds for G and K yesterday, the ones that happen in the back of the throat. Till now she’d been substituting D and T. She asked me to teach her how to do it, and so I explained it and she was able to do it! It’s so interesting hearing her make a new sound that she really has to think hard about. It will take some practice to work it into her usual speech, as she’s so used to saying words the other way. But very cool.

    I like how Lillian says
    “I need to get switchuated”
when we’re getting situated on the rocking chair to read a book.

Yesterday morning Lillian says to Noah, “Daddy, I’m so proud of you for waking up today!” (we usually let Daddy sleep a bit while I get ready for work on weekdays, then we have to tell him it’s time to wake up.)
